Osteoarthritis in Focus: stappone at the Specialist Conference in St. Pölten
stappone was part of the specialist conference OSTEOARTHRITIS IN FOCUS on February 21, 2025, in St. Pölten. While the University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten hosted an interdisciplinary conference for medical professionals, physiotherapists and nursing staff, an information day provided hands-on insights for the public.
Information Day and Workshops for the Public
With a rising number of affected individuals and the variety of associated therapies, osteoarthritis remains a highly relevant topic. The University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten, under the direction of Barbara Wondrasch, Head of the Department of Health and the Institute for Health Sciences, organized a diverse program addressing both medical professionals and interested laymen.
While experts from various disciplines discussed the latest findings in osteoarthritis research, diagnostics, and therapy, a dedicated information day offered the public valuable practical insights and useful tips on prevention and treatment. In the afternoon program, patients and interested individuals had the opportunity to gain comprehensive knowledge through a dynamic mix of lectures and information stations and to participate actively in interactive workshops.
Expert Conference: Sharing the Latest Knowledge
Renowned experts from science and practice presented the latest findings on osteoarthritis at the conference, examining the disease from medical, therapeutic and nursing perspectives. Stefan Nehrer from the University for Continuing Education Krems provided insights into current research and therapy approaches, while Tanja Stamm from the Medical University of Vienna explained how modern technologies measure treatment success. Karl-Heinz Wagner from the University of Vienna explored the role of nutrition in both prevention and therapy, and Bernhard Taxer from Physio Austria linked neuroscientific findings to osteoarthritis. Markus Neubauer from the University Hospital Krems discussed the potential of regenerative medicine as a promising treatment approach.
Karin Pieber, specialist in Physical Medicine and General Rehabilitation and Medical Director at St. Pölten – Lilienfeld University Hospital, emphasized the crucial role of movement in preventing and treating osteoarthritis. She encouraged reducing fear and integrating individualized movement recommendations into medical consultations, highlighting the importance of physical activity as a key element in both prevention and therapy.
Gait Analysis for Osteoarthritis Patients
One of the highlights of the event was the stappone booth, where many visitors took advantage of the opportunity to undergo a professional gait analysis. The analysis clearly indicated which side of the body was affected by osteoarthritis, as visible through typical bad postural and restricted rolling movements of the foot.
These precise data are invaluable for doctors and physiotherapists, as they enable targeted treatment strategies and individualized exercises for patients, ultimately improving their mobility in the long term. At the same time, the visualization of gait parameters helps patients understand their movement limitations much better and stay motivated throughout their recovery.
Innovative Technologies as Therapy
Discussions with experts and feedback from patients once again highlighted the importance of innovative technologies in modern osteoarthritis therapy. stappone’s gait analysis technology supports the treatment of this widespread condition and significantly improves the quality of life for those affected.
